The 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, is the current Dalai Lama, the highest spiritual leader of Tibet, and is considered a living Buddha. Although once considered the political head of Tibet, the 14th Dalai Lama ceded his political authority to the Tibetan exile government in 2011, demonstrating his faith in Tibetan democracy.
